Black Virgin Mountain (Vietnamese: Núi Bà Đen meaning "Black Lady Mountain", Khmer: Phnom Chol Baden) is a mountain in the Tây Ninh Province of Vietnam. To the Vietnamese the mountain is the center of a myth about Bà Đen, a local deity of Khmer origin. During the Vietnam War the area around the mountain was very active as the Ho Chi Minh Trail ended a few kilometers west across the Cambodian border. As such there were many battles and American and Vietnamese soldiers based in the region remember the prominent landmark. After the war the mountain turned from a battleground to being famous for its beautiful temples and theme park.

  • Really enjoyed our day here with plenty to do. We tried to take our 4 year old up the mountain but only got to the half way point given the climb and the steps... so will def come and do an adult...  more »
  • Once the park at the top is finished it will be much better, but it was an intermediate climb (we didn't take the stairs route, we went up the jungle).  more »

  • It was a nice hike up to the mountain. Taking the cable car one way costs 85k (instead/on the way back you can walk all the way up/down, it’s just stairs and not too long). It will take you up the first 200m. If you pay 165k you can use the cable car and on the way back (approximately the same distance the cable car took you up) a summer toboggan run. You get the nicest view not from the very top, though. Before you reach the top you will see a huge rock which you can climb. It rises above the valley and you’ll have an amazing view! The reason I only gave 4 stars is that there is a massive amount of garbage. You’ll find everything from pet bottles to plastic shoes and so on all the way to the top. For the price I’m paying I want them to clean the hiking path and not build a cable car which will be able to take you all the way up..!!!! I read a review that said it takes you 8 hours to get to the top... we did A LOT of breaks and it hardly took us 3 hours. You can definitely do it in 2 hours if you’re fit and have the right shoes.
  • The hike was 3 hours up and 3 hours down. Also, don't ever attempt to go on a public holiday, there are thousands of people and so much trash.
