Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural, Hanoi

There's a lot going on on this ceramic mosaic mural! It spans about 6.5 kilometres alongside the red river, and was created for the millennial anniversary of Hanoi in 2010. The mosaic is intricate and displays a couple of interesting scenes, animals, patterns etc. The only downside to visiting the mural is that it is to a large part situated directly next to a busy road, which makes crossing over to it or walking alongside not that joyful. Still worth a visit!

The mosaic starts at the very least from Long Bien bridge, and throughout most of its path northwards retains its vibrancy and colour, only beginning to show signs that it’s affected by vehicular pollution when the mosaic tiles used shift from reds and yellows, to browns and darker shades. Highly recommended, but don’t walk. Instead take a Grab taxi scooter, and to be safe don’t fiddle around with your phone or camera, because you’ll be travelling along a high speed stretch of road.
