Established in 1980, the zoo acts as a breeding and conservation project, protecting native animals and improving education about them. Walk the zoo's main circuit to see the animals among native plants and shrubs, catching sights of raccoons, otters, foxes, jaguars, native birds, pumas, and many more, with over 250 creatures from 53 different species across the 86 hectare (213 acre) site.
