  • The Cabildo de Montevideo is a colonial-era building located in the Constitution Square in the center of the city. Built as the headquarters of the city administration or the colonial Cabildo. Built in neoclassic style by the Spanish architect Tomás Toribio. The works lasted from 1804 to about 1812. At this time Montevideo was part of the Vice-Kingdom of the Río de Prata. In 1830, Uruguay's first president, Fructuoso Rivera, took an oath at the Cabildo, a tradition that would be followed by the other presidents for 90 years. In 1958 it was converted into archive and museum-the Museo y Archivo Histórico Municipal Cabildo.

  • A nice building, but nothing to go to see specifically, I passed very fast. It's close to Independence Square.
