Established in 1962, Columbia Winery was founded by 10 friends, six of whom were University of Washington professors. The group was united under the belief that classic European vines could thrive in the Washington climate and yield fine wines. The results far exceeded their expectations under influential winemaker and Master of Wine David Lake, who joined the winery in 1979. Under Lake, Columbia Winery produced Washington State’s first series of vineyard-designate wines and was the first to plant several new grape varieties in the state, including Syrah, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Franc. Today, Columbia’s forward-thinking philosophy continues to thrive at the hands of a talented and creative winemaking team, led by Winemaker Sean Hails. Situated in the Columbia Valley, Sean and his team let their artistic side guide the way in the Sunnyside winery while experimenting with new grape varieties, yeast strains and oak regimens.Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Columbia Winery by using our Woodinville trip maker site.

This is a great venue. There is a tasting room with fireplace, outdoor seating and tasty food. If you belong to the wine club, you get a private patio. There are also two meeting rooms for large events, plenty of parking and beautiful landscaping.
Staff is very knowledgeable about the wines.if you don't know exactly what you want I recommend doing a tasting then grabbing a bottle.... Or two or three. The staff can tell you all about the types and what makes each one special! Try to have Dennis as your server!
