The headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense, The Pentagon is the largest low-rise office building in the world. Spanning 11.6 hectares (28.7 acres), the facility hosts a working population of about 24,000 each day. On a free tour, you'll walk 2.4 km (1.5 mi) through the building and learn about the five armed-service branches of the U.S. Military-- Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Air Force, as well as the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Joint Staff. Admire the Medals of Honor displayed in the Hall of Heroes and pay your respects at the September 11th Memorial. No photographs, video, or audio recordings are allowed during the tour. Reserve your spot online at least two weeks in advance, and view the list of accepted identification, which is required for visitors 18 and older. The pentagonal form is a resumption of that of many forts, castles and fortified citadites (see Palmanova in the province of Udine). It is 24 meters high and contains about 28 km. corridors inside that contains about 40,000 people who work there. You can take guided tours, but it is important to book well in advance.
There are Starbucks and areas where you can eat, the coffee and food is very expensive, so you better eat at home before visiting the pentagon. Safety here is extremely so don't try anything strange that makes your journey is concluded. Believe me, you will enjoy a lot of this experience.
If the people only knew how many Pentagon buildings there are and have been that perfectly line up with this one around the world.. It also lines up with Stonehenge..
