Blues Alley Reviews
Going to a jazz club that has been running since 1965 was a real experience. The atmosphere was amazing. We really felt the history of the place. The performers were talented and really impressed me. ... more »

The music, well served by the format of the room, neither large nor small, was of quality, the singer very professional. A little too much: more craft than soul, more Hollywood than the Delta. If it comes, it seeks to forget it. Guests don't come to eat - good southern cuisine - but they drink. Bartenders are also very professional: you'll have a hard time getting drunk with their cocktails. A good evening, but quite expensive paid, even if you do not regret his money. We can recommend Blues Alley.
This is a great little jazz/blues club tucked away in an alley. I went on a Jazz night. Ended up showing up late to the first show. Apparently there are two shows and you pay separately for each rather than a flat cover. My fault for not knowing that, though. Atmosphere was great. Service was good. Ordered a dirty martini and I'm pretty sure it was a glass of olive juice. Told them the issue, and second one was great. The crowd was great. Nobody on their phones. Definitely 5 stars if you want to see good, live music.
Set in an actual alley in Georgetown, Washington D.C., this is a fantastic place for a first date or an intimate evening. The tables are small allowing conversation and appreciation of the excellent food. During the shows (the first at 8pm and the second at 10pm) lights dim and conversations hush. Tables are so close to the stage it's impossible to have a bad seat or view. Three seating is first come first served. Play attention to which performance you've paid for and arrival time.
