Goddard Memorial State Park is an urban state park occupying 490acre along the shores of Greenwich Cove and Greenwich Bay in Warwick, Rhode Island. The grounds were once the estate of Civil War officer and Rhode Island politician Robert Goddard, whose children gave the land to the state in 1927 as a memorial to their father. The park features a nine-hole golf course, an equestrian area with 18mi of bridle trails, swimming beach, canoeing area, picnicking facilities, game fields, and a performing arts center.
Plans were announced in 2014 to move the Narragansett Runestone to the park.

  • I moved states and this place was right up the road. So I thought I would check it out. The park is usually not too busy on weekdays. You will see quite a few people doing their thing. Golf, running, walking, taking pictures and riding horses, on the weekends the sky is the limit, within park rules anyway, is well maintained. The weekends are the best, the families are so happy and friendly.
  • Great spot to stretch your legs and run around with the kids on the vast fields or fly a kite. You can use a fire pit to cook up some burgers if you can find one with a grate. There are some bathrooms, a little stable with horses, a beach, and a golf course. Also worth a mention is on Fridays there is a farmers market.
