Virginia Beach stretches 4.8 km (3 mi) along the waterfront of a town of the same name. Sunbathe on the soft sand, or shop for souvenirs on the main street along the beach. The white sand beach is bound by the ocean and a boardwalk featuring museums, monuments, and sculptures. Follow the boardwalk for the Virginia Legends Walk to learn about famous citizens of the state like Thomas Jefferson, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ella Fitzgerald. If you’re into fishing, try your luck along the fishing pier, accessible from the boardwalk. Grew up going to this beach and still have love for it, even during the summer days when it gets too busy. It's got a long boardwalk that makes for a nice stroll, with a bike path to the side; a lengthy strip, dispersed between different streets and densely packed with lots of shops (clothing, souvenirs, novelties, whatever else you might come across), a small amusement park, nightclubs, arcades, restaurants/eateries, food stands, and adventurous things to do with groups and family; plenty of convenience stores; numerous hotels to choose from; outdoor show venues and live street performances; restrooms and rinse stations conveniently located within walking distance; and plenty of interesting things to see. It is fairly clean and well maintained throughout. Whether you're looking to have a fun beach day, a decent nightlife activity, or just a chill time with family or friends, there's lots to do here. It's a nice place to be even when all the tourists come out. I like to hit the North End whenever the main strip has too much going on.
I was there last week with a friend. There are lots of hotels in front of the Atlantic beach. The place is organized and there are a lane for bikes and another for walkers. I like the idea of horse back riding in front of the beach. Unfortunately, it was fully booked. So, if you are going, you can book for this activity online. It is a good place.
