The park covers of which are owned by the federal government. The Nature Conservancy owns and manages 76% of Santa Cruz Island, the largest island in the park.
Channel Islands National Park is home to a wide variety of significant natural and cultural resources. It was designated a U.S. National Monument on April 26, 1938, and a National Biosphere Reserve in 1976. It was promoted to a National Park on March 5, 1980. • Drew was awesome. As a school teacher, I have been to the Visitor Center several times over the course of many years. During our field trip there, drew kept the student highly engaged and motivated. They had a clear understanding of what to do while there and what to look for. I had an enjoyable time as well as all of my students. Thanks to the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center for putting this together. -David B. Carlson
  • The staff is very helpful and the center is very well kept. They have a live fish tank that shows what the kelp forest is like. They also have a piggy mammoth display that explains their discovery on the islands. There is an exterior exhibit that shows the topography of each island with cool facts. You can also climb the tower to get awesome views of the surrounding area.
