Tucson Botanical Gardens, Tucson

#4 of 44 in Parks in Tucson
Tucson Botanical Gardens is divided into themed gardens, including the xeriscape garden, which features a lush plot with low water usage. The gardens were the brainchild of horticulturalist Harrison G. Yocum, and they had two other temporary locations. But in 1974, Bernice Porter was looking for a way to save her home and its surrounding gardens, and the two merged. In a guided or self-guided tour, visit the backyard bird garden to discover how to bring hummingbirds, cardinals and other birds into your garden. Walk through to the children's discovery garden to learn about the lifecycle of a plant. Stop by Cafe Botanica for lunch, choosing from a seasonal menu using ingredients from the gardens. • What a beautiful place to wander through for a half day or so... plants, birds, butterflies, sculpture, ... even its gift shop is lovely! It also has a cute cafe.  more »
  • Strolling through the gardens offered an education on the plants that live in the area, including cacti, agave and various flowers. An enjoyable afternoon.  more »

  • Such an amazing experience!! Probably should have come a bit earlier in the day to avoid some of the heat, but we still really enjoyed everything. There are so many areas to explore and it's so easy to get lost in it all (in a good way!) They also had an amazing gift shop! We spent about 3 hours there going through the gardens but you could easily go through everything in 1-2 hours. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys plants or just spending time in nature.
  • Beyond beautiful. The garden is huge and there are sections with different themed plants ranging from tropical to desert. There's an adorable model old town with a train that is the absolute cutest. The butterfly exhibit was closed but I imagine that would not disappoint. There's plenty of wildlife to see as well. It's very quiet and relaxing, and a great place to go to relieve stress or take a personal photo shoot.
