Spread over five islands connected by bridges and causeways, Fort De Soto Park has pearl-white beaches, green surroundings, and a fort with a small museum. Go swimming, canoeing, hiking, cycling, or simply rest. Dip your feet in the water or try fishing at the two piers, where you can also buy fishing supplies. A snack bar is at the fort. You can camp in the park, which attracts more than 2.7 million visitors annually. Fort De Soto Park reviews
We went to the north beach during the week in the summer and found it pleasant and not crowded (definitely didn't have the place to ourselves but had a good 10-30 feet between groups). Ate at the... more »
This is our favorite beach to visit in the area. It is not crowded like many of the Gulf Coast beaches. You will see plenty of wildlife and possibly a Manatee. It will cost you $5 to enter the... more »
One of the most amazing and relaxing parks to camp at. A lot of waterfront sites to choose from for tents or RVs. They have sides specifically for dogs or without dogs. It is very difficult to book the nicer sites and sometimes you have to book 6 months in advance. They only allow two cars per site so if you have family or friends come hang out they will have to park across the street. It can get very busy during the holidays. Each site has a power and water hookup. Some of the sites you can launch canoes or kayaks. The sites and bathrooms are well kept. The showers are pretty decent and nice to have. One shower had a broken head but plenty to choose from. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. You can also get into the main park for free if you book a campsite. We have seen dolphins and even a manatee from one of our sites before, this is my favorite place to camp at.
The beach was absolutely beautiful The sand was soft and clean. The water was clear and the perfect temperature. Even with the hurricane sending rain on and off we still had a wonderful. Just the right amount of people even on a holiday weekend. We also saw they had canoeing, kayaking and camping grounds. We will definately be going back for another beach day. And already planning our camping trip!
