The only place in the United States where four states intersect as one point, Four Corners Monument was originally marked in 1912 with a simple cement pad. The monument has since been renovated and now features a granite and brass pad that is decorated with flags from each state. Stand and take a photo at the crossroad. Or visit the demonstration center with Navajo artisans and pick up handmade jewelry and crafts. You'll have the opportunity to sample traditional Navajo food at nearby vendors. Take water with you--there is no running water or electricity at this site. Four Corners Monument Reviews
Went here over Christmas break which was awesome as there was no wait. Apparently in the summer the line is over 2hrs long. This is an absolute must stop as we came from monument valley up to the 4.... more »
This is the only place in the US you can in 4 states at once. Granted it's near anything else so you have to commit to come here. I think the $5 per person is a bit much, rather should be that per..... more »
I have to say the ride from Albuquerque is gorgeous. We went the back way through small towns and Pueblos. The monument is located in the land that God created. The views and lands are are amazing. There is a charge to enter the monument area. That’s where the wonder stops. It’s all dirt and only portapotties. The “ toilets” hadn’t been emptied or cleaned since Adam and Eve. Good thing there wasn’t a restaurant since I lost my appetite. Disgusting just isn’t descriptive enough. There is a time limit for standing in 4 states and taking pictures. The walls are filled with vendors who have t shirts and inexpensive souvenirs to beautiful high end jewelry and hand made native items. You don’t stay long but it’s worth the visit. Just be sure you won’t need a bathroom before you get there.
Definitely a place to stop and take some pictures so you can say you've been there. We went on a chilly, gloomy morning so there wasn't a lot of people. There are vendors with cool stuff too. Don't over think the technicalities of where the state lines actually are and just enjoy the only experience like this in the US.
