In addition to hosting exotic animals from around the world, ZooTampa at Lowry Park claims to display more species native to Florida than anywhere else. The zoo features multiple themed sections, including Asia, Africa, and Australia. You can learn about endangered species, and explore more than 23 hectares (56 acres) of exhibits. Don't miss the on-site hospital (the only example of its kind) dedicated to helping and rehabilitating injured Florida manatees. Check before you visit for special events and chances to interact directly with animals. What a delightful zoo. Lots of animals that we’ve rarely seen elsewhere, beautiful, and walkable. We’ve been to 8 zoos so far in my 5 year old son’s life, including San Diego (still the top), and... more »

It has been a couple years since we visited the zoo and we're pleased with some of the changes. The venue is nice and clean still, the animals look good and even though it was a hot day, they didn't seem bothered. This is a nice place to bring the family. Take your time and enjoy the displays. .. or in the case of the Orangutans, being on display. :)

We were very impressed with ZooTampa at Lowry Park. All the exhibits were well looked after, and we enjoyed every minute at the park. It is well-organized, and a will take you the better part of the day to explore. It is best that you arrive at opening, as many of the animals seek shelter during the heat of the day. The Zoo's commitment to working with other facilities to save endangered animals, especially not the "pretty ones" that people pay $$ to see, is quite commendable. The water log ride in the middle of the park is a nice refreshing "splash" in the middle of a hot summer day. There are also plenty of opportunities for smaller children to splash around.
