  • We had a wonderful day out on the water on this tour. This is not a hardcore deep sea fishing trip. We knew that going in and as a result, the trip exceeded our expectations. We caught numerous fish.....  more »

  • Good time! Very entertaining and friendly 1st mate. Took home mackerel, Pollack, and wife and I each got a live lobster!
  • Things you need to know about the vagabond: It is a small lobster boat. It is not "deep sea" fishing. Their website says they take 30 people out, our trip had 28 after two people walked off before we embarked, and two people from my party did not attend. Which means we would have had 32, the first mate made it known that they would normally take out 40 people. There is absolutely no way this boat can hold 40 people. We barely fit with 28. 40 would be a nightmare. Their website advertises "concessions", they had 1 bag of pretzels and warm bottles of water in the wheelhouse. Their website advertises cod as one of the fish you can catch, you cannot, fishing for cod is illegal in Maine, they all have to be thrown back. You spend more time watching them pull their pots than fishing. That was okay with us because we ended up taking home 4 lobsters for our party of 6. The customer service is abysmal and it is the reason that we would never go on this boat again. I called the day before our trip, I let her know that I was concerned because we had been whale watching the day before and members of our party had gotten sick. I asked about the size of the boat and weather conditions for the next day, the phone rang at least 10 times before anyone picked up and the woman could not answer either of my questions. She replied "I dont know, I'm not in the building." Furthermore, I booked online reservations (for 8) for our trip 5 days before but never received a confirmation so I called to check on the reservations and had to leave all of my info again. The second time I called I booked for 7 and by the time we got there we were down to 6 due to sea sickness. When we arrived she had us down for 8 and 7 and lectured us and threatened to charge us for the original number even though they had lost my original reservation and I called the day before the trip to let her know we would likely have even fewer people. This woman is the one who takes payment and is a mate, she talked down to and argued obnoxiously with almost every person on the boat. She is the reason a couple walked off of our trip and I almost walked off. I'm giving this two stars only because we did bring home lobster, and a bag of pollack filets. The captain and Charlie the other mate were nice enough and it was a beautiful day on the water with the added pleasure of seeing porpoise and seals.
