Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center (SWCC) offers a home for life in our accredited wildlife sanctuary, the largest sanctuary for animals native to the southwest in the United States. SWCC is the only sanctuary in Arizona capable of caring for large mammals such as black bears, mountain lions, and Mexican gray wolves. As an accredited sanctuary, SWCC must operate under strict and rigorous guidelines with respect to animal management and care.

SWCC is funded through donations and grants and we appreciate on the hard work of countless volunteers.

  • What a beautifully special place. They save the most needy and return them to their natural homes if at all possible. Great tour guide as well.  more »
  • The tour was spectacular. I did not expect it to be as amazing as it was, and I fell in love with all the sweet animals! Can’t wait to be back, it was so hard to leave and the tour guides were...  more »

  • Awesome hidden gem. Great for families, couples, or on your own. Tours are 9-11 am most days. Even in middle of summer, it's very reasonable out there - almost all of the tour is in shade (but bring water, if it's a hot day). Interesting and educated tour guides talk you through their entire wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and release programs. Over 300 animals in total with excellent examples of most species able to be seen easily and up close. Everything from raptors to gray wolves to black bears. The big cats are super cool, too. Very glad we were able to find this place (they should do more marketing).
  • Diane, our tour leader was outstanding! She provided details about the animals and told about their 'stories' as well. It was interesting, fun and professional. She was one of the finest guides that I have experienced. The animals are well cared for. Diane seemed to be 'magic', whenever she called for each animal, they usually came.
