Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home, Savannah

This tour impressed me for several reasons: Our guide, Cody, was excellent—so much knowledge and energy. The restoration was well done and it was refreshing to see how the average family in Savannah lived during that time period, as opposed to the opulence you’ll see in most restored homes in the area. Plus, the house features actual items used by the O’Connors during their lives. For me the cost of the tour was also appreciated since I’m traveling to several cities and things add up. $8 to hear about one of my favorite authors in an authentic period setting from a passionate, welcoming docent? I’m in. Throw in an embossed collection of O’Connor’s stories and the experience adds up to my favorite part of this trip, hands down.

This type of attraction is not my cup of tea. But my wife loved it and drug me across Savannah to see it. It's a quaint little mueseum dedicated to an author I never heard of. But a nice place to stop by if you into this sort of thing.
