Fort Cronkhite is one of the components of California's Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Today part of the National Park Service, Fort Cronkhite is a former US Army post that served as part of the coastal artillery defenses of the San Francisco Bay Area during World War II. The soldiers at Cronkhite manned gun batteries, radar sites, and other fortifications on the high ridges overlooking the fort.

  • Fort Cronkhite is just a bunch of barracks. What makes it unique is that is is situated next to Rodeo Beach and the Rodeo Lagoon reachable by crossing over the Rodeo Beach Bridge on Mitchell Road.  more »

  • This place is breathtaking. I love it! The history is cool, the beach is beautiful
  • Loved watching the surfers. Unfortunately the bathrooms were 3rd world as there was trash heaped in the toilets. No where to use the restroom. People were taking toilet paper up the hills to go.....
