Sawyer Camp Trail reviews
A beautiful trail down through the Hetch Hetchy/Crystal Springs water system. Shaded by trees and starts downhill before becoming mostly flat. Gorgeous trees, plenty of walkers and bikers, and... more »
Beautiful paved walk along the lake. Level. Easy. Only problem, on a lovely Saturday morning, it was REALLY crowded. Families. Runners. Bikers. But a great spot to get away from the hussle and.... more »
A great family spot. Bring the kids, their bikes, a stroller, whatever. Enjoy the run or the ride. Definitely a family trail. If you're looking to ride hard and fast, the roads nearby are where you should bring a road bike.
Camp Sawyer Trail is a great place for biking, running, and walking. It offers great views of Crystal Springs Reservoir and the ridge on the opposite side of the reservoir. Additionally, the trail is paved and flat, making it easy for anybody of any physical fitness to use. The parking for the trail is very iffy, since you have to park on the side of the road. Sometimes, if there are a lot of cars, you have to park quite far from the entrance to the trail. There are no water fountains, so be sure to bring your own water. There are bathrooms at the entrance, 1 mile north of the entrance, and 3 miles north of the entrance. However, the bathrooms aren't the cleanest and they only have hand sanitizer to wash your hands. Sometimes, there may not be toilet paper, so be sure to check before using it. The trail is often crowded near the entrance, so be sure to watch where you're going to you don't crash into bikers or runners. But it starts getting less populated the farther you go up the trail.
