  • It’s really unfortunate that the town does not have any information about the Memorial that stands adjacent to the Stations at the Mesa top. I found this far more compelling than the Stations, and.....  more »

  • The walk through the last moments of the Saviors life was touching. Doesn't matter what your religious beliefs are it is a hike that anyone can take something good from. The sculptures are masterfully done. The overlook from the top is amazing. The church at the top is quite stunning.
  • Visited here with my father and brother. It was a nice side trip on our way home. We drove specifically to look at his Stations of the Cross. Information isn't obvious or easy to find for how to visit. I think you park at the visitor center across the street from the start of the trail at the bottom of the hill. I added pictures of the sign and pedestrian bridge that crosses a creek to the gate. My party had a wheelchair and my father who could not hike up the trail. Using Google maps in satellite mode, I see there is a dirt road (turns out to be called "Stations of the Cross Road") off of the highway north of San Luis. Follow that road to the church above the shrine. I walked down from the top to pray the stations. The first station is not within site of the trailhead. The church is very small and very pretty. I am interested in the history. I did not see any information there, so I'll research online. The stations is pretty and unique. The walkway has a rocky base and is well maintained. It wold be nice to have a few benches along the walkway. I don't recall seeing any. I think this is a great place for a family or small group pilgrimage.
