Redwood National Park

4.7
Redwood National Park is home to a tremendous collection of the world's tallest type of tree. The stars of the show here stretch over 107 m (350 ft) high, with the tallest tree in the park, Hyperion, climbing to 115.5 m (379.1 ft). The park, though, offers much more than tall trees. It includes a 64 km (40 mi) stretch of wild coastline, plus raging rivers and a high prairie containing 300-year-old white oak trees. Gray whales swim along the park's coastal region in November, December, and March. Many visitors take quick hikes through redwood stands and crane their necks as they try to glimpse the treetops, but longer trails are also available. Roosevelt elk roam the prairie and bald eagles spread their wings overhead. Perhaps the park's most famous resident, though, is the banana slug, with a color resembling that of a ripe banana and a length of up to 25 cm (9.8 in). With the Inspirock world travel planner, Redwood National Park and other destinations across the globe can be made central to your personalized travel plans.
