Barn Bluff (Dakota: Ȟemníčhaŋ, frequently anglicized to He Mni Can) is a bluff along the Mississippi River in Red Wing, Minnesota, United States. The bluff is considered sacred by the Dakota people because it is the site of many burial mounds. The bluff overlooks the downtown area and towers about 400 feet (120 m) above the Mississippi River with an extensive view of Lake Pepin to the south. It is one of hundreds of bluffs in the Driftless Area, which covers parts of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois, in addition to the southeastern toe of Minnesota.

On the main street in Red Wind you can see a tall bluff ahead. If you look closely, you can see people up there. Little did I realize that shortly, we would be up there walking around! I was hoping..... more »
Beautiful hike. be careful, especially if it is wet, and if it says that part of the trail is closed, honor the signs. It has a great view of the river and the town, when you get to the top. Fall is so pretty , but I imagine that any time of the year would be nice to hike this.
