Antiques Marketplace reviews
Big antique store, well laid out and easy to walk through. We took about 2 hours to go through it all, a lot of fun. Prices were good. more »
Allow people to return items. Today, I bought a revolving stool and it didn’t wind up to the height I needed. I brought it back no more than 20 minutes later. They refused to allow me to return it. I.... more »
I had high hopes for Antiques Marketplace. With four levels filled to the brim with artifacts of all kinds, I assumed it was exactly the type of store I was looking for. At first glance, it meets expectations, maybe even exceeds them when you witness the sheer volume of objects that the store carries. However, much like the Paris Catacombs, the deeper you dive, the darker and more twisted it becomes. My first inkling that all was not right within the confines of this shop was when I saw a handful of extremely tasteless and racist porcelain statues. Though these are to be considered antiques, I would argue that products such as these have no spot on the shelves of modern America. There is no capitalistic explanation for needing to possess such atrocities. As I continued browsing through the shelves, I thought I had seen the worst that Antiques Marketplace has to offer. I figured it was an honest mistake, and that the shop was better than this small display. I was sorely disappointed as I made my way through the levels. Though I could easily list over 50 similarly despicable artifacts, the piece-de-resistance, if you will, came in the form of a most egregious glass display. It contained explicit and prolific, dare I say odes to one of the darkest moments in the history of social justice. Yes, Antiques Marketplace has what I can only describe as a shrine to both Hitler and Nazi Germany at large. Pictures of the dictator, a multitude of Nazi Germany military badges and medals, and armband from WWII, photographs of dead soldiers, and innumerable other indecent and inhumane objects. On the same shelf is a section dedicated to the KKK, with a pamphlet urging people to join the group, and an old order form for the notorious white robes. KKK pins and badges galore, and derogatory depictions of African Americans. All in all, Antiques Marketplace makes a living profiting off of the suffering of past peoples. What could have been a great little shop tucked away in the shops of Putnam is instead a living representation of valuing profit more than humanity. I will never purchase a single item from the shop, and I recommend you don't either.
Loved it. Will go back in a heart beat. Huge selection of jewelry. If you love antiques like I do you will totally enjoy it. Decent selection of restaurants for lunch.
