The area is named for Nathaniel Hale Pryor, a sergeant in the Lewis and Clark Expedition.GeographyPryor is located at .According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 103.0km2, of which 0.02sqkm, or 0.02%, is water.ClimateAccording to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Pryor has a semi-arid climate, abbreviated "BSk" on climate maps.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 628 people, 166 households, and 140 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 15.8 people per square mile (6.1/km²). There were 197 housing units at an average density of 5.0 per square mile (1.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 12.58% White, 84.87% Native American, 0.16% Asian, and 2.39% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.27% of the population.
