Bear Valley Visitor Center reviews
Great place to stop and get an overview of the park and the area. Small, but just right for a quick stop. more »
Lots of parking and nearby trails make the Visitor Center a good place to stop for a bit. I enjoyed the short walk to the replica of a native village. The VC had a great selection of books and... more »
I've never had a bad experience at a ranger station, but these guys were particularly cool. My partner and I went to Glen camp for two night. We were expecting rain, but there was more than expected, and since it didn't seem like it was going to clear up, we left a day early. Out of courtesy, we let the rangers know we had a change in plans and were leaving. Later that day I saw we were refunded for one of the nights which was really cool. Also, they offer free fire permits for beach fires which is nice. The station itself is well kept, they do short educational movies and have a little museum of the local wildlife and vegetation like most ranger stations. Outside next to the station is a large grass field that looks like a great place for picknicks and such. There were two parking lots, on dirt, one paved; with a fair amount of parking. Restrooms were well kept for park restrooms. No cafe or food at the station though.
Local area’s plant, animal, and Native American interpretation center, gift shop, maps. Short, intermediate, and long length, levels of endurance hiking areas. Restrooms, water bottle fill station, picnic areas. Gateway to many more hiking trails, camping. Local area also offers lodging accommodations, restaurants, coffee, bakery, food market, historic points of interest, Lighthouse, Marconi radio site, wild life sanctuaries. Some local animal habitats area areas seasonally closed - Check Point Reyes NPS website for more information. Be aware: no cell service west, west northwest of this location, at the time of this review. Amateur radio HT / mobile recommended.
