Located at the Whitefish Point Light Station, the area of many Great Lakes shipping disasters, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum explores the history of the Great Lakes, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Life Saving Service. Discover artifacts retrieved from local shipwrecks, such as the bell from the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. During a tour of the station's historic buildings, a docent will guide you past the light tower, fog signal building, lookout tower, and more. You'll have the chance to visit the lightkeeper's quarters and assistant U.S. Coast Guard chief's quarters as well. In the latter, you can watch a short video about the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Put Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Paradise trip itinerary planner.
