The Oklahoma History Center (OHC) is the history museum of the state of Oklahoma. Located on an 18-acre (7.3 ha) plot across the street from the Governor's mansion at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive in Oklahoma City, the current museum opened in 2005 and is operated by the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS). It focuses on the history of Oklahoma from ancient Native American tribal nations to the present day. The OHC was founded in 1893 by members of the Territorial Press Association in Guthrie, Oklahoma, then the capital of Oklahoma Territory, but moved to Oklahoma City after statehood was declared in November 1907.

  • This museum provides a good history of the state of Oklahoma. Although I have lived here 26 years of my adult life, I learned so much in just the first two exhibit halls! The museum is very well laid out and the exhibits are beautiful. I can't believe the museum has been open 14 years, as it is very clean and looks brand new! There is a good mix of interactive learning for adults and kids and view/read only items. Many of the Native American bead work items are stunning. The Oklahoma / Vietnam war gallery was unique, very moving exhibits to say the least. Fun to sing and dance along with the "Oklahoma" musical playing in the Noble Foundation Gallery. Outside, the museum grounds are also beautiful. Too much to write - I had a great afternoon. Easy to navigate, ample parking, great gift shop, lots of photo opportunities! The staff was also friendly and helpful.
