  • We enjoyed hiking here one day with our dogs. The trails are wide and grassy. I would call it more of a walk in the woods than hiking because the trails aren't difficult or steep. I will say they...  more »
  • Stayed in cabin 10 - a definite value. A basic cabin with wood paneling and a loft. The kitchen was basic, but fit our needs. Walked the trials in the morning and visited the area during the day.  more »
  • Cheap cabins, food, and kayak rentals make for a relaxing, enjoyable vacation location. The hiking trails can take you to various views of the lake for some great pictures. The cabins are a great place for a family looking to spend time together or get around to all of Deep Creek Lake's attractions. It's not a particularly interesting bit of nature, partially because it's man-made. The cabins themselves are well equipped and have more space then you might expect. They feature big porches to support a beautiful view of the forest, and the buildings are nearly pest free save some mice. The only issue with the cabins is that you don't have individual fire pits outside, only a communal one. The power outlets also strangely seem to have variable output, so one outlet could an hour and a half to charge your phone, and the next could take 3 hours. They have a lot of complimentary things to offer like corn hole, firewood, and an hour of kayak/canoe rental for every day you stay at a cabin. Their service is friendly and the rangers aren't too persistent for their own good.
  • We love it here! We've been on vacation on the area before and started at many places, but staying in cabins in Herrington is nice because you can immediately access the hiking trails, the beach at the lake, the canoes and paddle boats. It's nice.
