The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a large Christmas tree placed annually in Rockefeller Center, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, United States. The tree is erected in mid November and lit in a public ceremony on the Wednesday following Thanksgiving. Since 1997, the lighting has been broadcast live, to hundreds of millions, on NBC's Christmas in Rockefeller Center telecast on a Wednesday after Thanksgiving. The tree lighting ceremony is aired at the end of every broadcast, following live entertainment and the tree is lit by the current Mayor of New York City and special guests. An estimated 125 million people visit the attraction each year.
The tree, usually a Norway spruce 69 to 100 feet (21 to 30 m) tall, has been a national tradition each year since 1933. The 2020 Christmas Tree Lighting, which lacked the traditional audience due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, took place on December 2, 2020 and the tree will remain on display until early January 2021.

  • A must see, probably most famous Christmas tree in the world, but gosh you’ll have to battle a lot of crowds to get close.  more »
  • It’s 2020 and things are different but one thing remains the same. The grandeur of the most iconic tree in the world. THE Tree in Rockefeller Center is still decorating the city.  more »
  • Iconic is the only word to describe it. Nothing fancy, just a simple tree with lights. However it attracts thousands of visitors every day just because it is famous. The ice skating rink just beside it is nice and people do skate during holiday season. The SAKS light show can be seen from here which is really awesome.
  • This is the most electric and welcoming times in the city of New York. You'll be delighted by the shinning lights and the fast pace of this city. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is a must see every year! It does not matter if you reside in the city or not! Everyone goes downtown. P.S. Stay alert of your kids, it can be very crowded at all times.
