Nashville Parthenon, Nashville

#4 of 28 in Museums in Nashville
Architectural Building · Art Museum
Experience Ancient Greece in the heart of Tennessee at Nashville Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the original structure in Athens. The impressive imitation was built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, no doubt influenced by Nashville's moniker, "Athens of the South." Examine the plaster replica of the Parthenon Marbles and the imposing statue of Athena Parthenos. Nashville native Alan LeQuire needed eight years to complete the 13 m (42 ft) tall Athena statue. The building also serves as an art museum with a permanent collection of 63 paintings by 19th- and 20th-century American artists. • I would definitely stop into the Parthenon. There’s beautiful art work and history. The grounds are pretty and there’s a lake nearby you can stroll around. It’s also a stop on the hop on hop off...  more »
  • We really enjoyed seeing this stunning replica. Seeing Athena inside was worth the price of admission. Interesting local history as well. The surrounding park is beautiful and provides plenty of room....  more »
  • Staff did a great job spacing out guests for social distancing. Prices were reasonable, under $50 for a family of five. We were able to take our time looking at the art exhibits and appreciate the architecture. Nice park just outside of the Parthenon with ducks, geese, squirrels, and other wildlife. Nice walking trails.
  • The Parthenon is a Nashville staple, and still one of my favorite places to go. I absolutely love the attention to detail that was put into the building, as well as the Athena Parthenos inside of it. This landmark has been apart of my life since I was born, with so many beautiful memories tied to it. If you are visiting from out of town, I highly recommend you come take a look at this beautiful building. I'm not sure if anywhere else has a replica, but you can certainly get a feel for Ancient Grecian architecture while here.
