Andrew Jackson's Hermitage reviews

We did the mansion tour and everyone had a great time (7 & 11 yo boys). The guide is informative about the house, family, and staff, and they even share several “Did you know…” facts about Andrew... more »
Wish I could give zero stars. My wife and I visited The Hermitage. Paid $40, and had our enjoyment of the exhibits disrupted by unsupervised kids from school groups. We also had to sit in the 90 plus degree heat while the school groups were pushed ahead of us to tour the home. To solve this problem, it was suggested to the manager that they set a couple of days a week for school groups. This way, adults who want to take their time can do so without a bunch of unsupervised kids running around on the days when there are no school groups. It is wonderful that school groups attend so kids can actually see the home of Andrew Jackson, and his chapter in American History. But, THE TEACHERS AND CHAPERONES NEED TO DO THEIR JOBS TO KEEP THE KIDS UNDER CONTROL. Staff at The Hermitage need to be on the floor removing disruptive kids. I was told by Management at The Hermitage that they know all about this problem. About time they do something about it. Until then, save your money.
The duel performer was 5 stars!!!!! He was informative, fun and captivating. We had a great time listening to him and learning about the real life duel. He was super funny and a great improvisor. The audio trail was wonderful as well and very well done. The mansion and the tour guides were really cool. The only part I felt was left out and I wanted to learn more about was Andrew Jackson’s involvement in the Native American exile. Haunting and amazing they gave history, importance and weight to the hard working and incredible slaves. Overall a great and informative trip.
