Corkscrew Swamp, Naples

#1 of 51 in Wildlife in Naples
Wildlife Area · Nature / Park
was created to protect two species of cypress trees that were at risk of being wiped out in the 1940s and 50s. Today it is a National Audubon Society sanctuary. Wet prairie, pond and bald cypress, and marshlands attract regional reptiles and birds. Keep your eyes open for cottonmouth snakes and alligators that prowl the shallow waters. Stroll along the boardwalk, added in 1955, to view the varied ecosystem.
