"Where the Little House Books were written." - In 1894, Almanzo & Laura Ingalls Wilder, with their daughter Rose, settled on Rocky Ridge Farm near Mansfield, MO. In 1932, Laura Ingalls Wilder published the first of her beloved "Little House" books. Laura's home is just as she left it, carefully preserved as it was in 1957. As the New York Times quoted, "The house is bursting with treasures...a must detour for lovers of Laura's books." Our new Museum/Library keeps Laura's and Rose's memorabilia safe and available for visitors. We look forward to your visit!

  • A wonderfully preserved look at Laura Ingalls Wilder's life! My family and I really enjoyed the tour, the rock house, and especially the museum. There's a decent amount of walking, but not extremely long or strenuous. Best of all, all of the buildings are air conditioned šŸ˜ We had a great time, big thanks to the staff for making us feel welcome!
  • Laura was a childhood hero of mine and this visit was a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list moment. Got a little emotional seeing things in person that were iconic to the books, like Pa's fiddle, dresses like the White Lawn, and letters by Laura's hand. Walking through her home that was built and furnished mostly by Almanzo was just unreal. It was a true honor to visit and i will never forget it.
