As the largest of its kind in the city and home to a multitude of Victorian-era graves, Cave Hill Cemetery is included on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally begun in the late 1840s, the cemetery features an array of decorations and tombs constructed in the grand Corinthian style. You can visit the cemetery and wander its plots, replete with local legends and ordinary citizens alike, including a number of tombs dedicated to both Union and Confederate soldiers from the Civil War. Admire the intricate designs of many of the statues and obelisks that dot the area and mark the entrances to the cemetery. This is the final resting place for former mayors, civil servants, soldiers, and even Colonel Sanders of "KFC" fame. The grounds are well kept and those that work here are very sweet. We also stop by and feed the ducks and geese.. You will not be disappointed if you come and ride through, its just so peaceful!!
