Robert Treman State Park, a picturesque region of rocky gorges, creeks and waterfalls, boasts high-quality walking trails, camping grounds, a swimming beach and picnic grounds. Hike the gorge trail to see 12 different waterfalls, including the impressive Lucifer Falls. The multitiered falls cascades 35 m (115 ft). Visit the Enfield Falls Mill--which is on the National Register of Historic Places--and Miller's House, a former gristmill that ground buckwheat, wheat and coarser grains. It now serves as a small museum that documents the milling process. Head to the lower falls for the lifeguard-monitored swimming beach. Bring a picnic to enjoy at picnic tables under shady trees. This park has many miles of trails that go through the gorge or along the rim. We hiked in the gorge trail to see the water falls close up. The trail has many steps and has places with drop offs so.... more »

I grew up taking family vacations here in the 50s and 60s and have many fond memories. I recently returned for the first time since 1969 and found that little has changed, which was a very welcomed surprise. The original sites are small by today's standards as most people used tents at the time but they have also expanded a large area to accommodate large RVs. The cabins, built in the 30s, look exactly the same, until you see the insides which have been remodeled rustic style, although beautifully done. There is an amazing swimming area built at the bottom of a georgous falls, and dammed to create a very large swimming area. The swim area contains a large amount of stone work creating a natural appearance that's as nice to see as it is to use. Then there are two trails, one on each side of the gorge, that follow the stream up through the gorge. One is mostly dirt with some steps in the steeper areas while the other is done almost completely in masonry and stone work. Absolutely beautiful! Words and pictures truly don't do justice to this entire park. If you're ever close, do yourself a huge favor and visit, even if just for the day. You won't be disappointed. This picture was taken before they replaced the dam to fill for the summer.
Here is some candid feedback about the park. Camping areas are really not that great at this park unless you like seeing your neighbors. Most of the camping areas are open to one another. There are a few that have a little privacy but not much . The newly opened camping areas don’t have photos yet but they have full sun and are basically in a field. Not my idea of camping in a forest. The park it self and hike is fantastic. Tip.... take gorge trail for a more scenic hike that is much easier than Rim trail from the bottom. We took the Gorge all the way to the top park and then Rim trail from the top back down. The views are great and the climb can be a little challenging if you are not in shape. Park is well maintained and they are in the process of adding steps where there are steep climbs. Swimming was closed during the time we were there but it looks like it would have been a lot of fun. Bathrooms and showers where clean and had hot water!!! Definitely would visit again but my choose to camp elsewhere.
