Must see · State Park · Nature / Park
Willow River State Park is a 2,891-acre (1,170 ha) Wisconsin state park located five miles (8 km) north of Hudson. The centerpiece of the park is Willow Falls, a powerful cascade in a 200-foot (61 m) deep gorge. Another popular feature is Little Falls Lake, a shallow reservoir on the Willow River. Because of its proximity to Minneapolis-St. Paul it is one of the most visited state parks in Wisconsin. Trilobite fossils found in the lower layers of the gorge indicate the rock is around 600 million years old.

  • No offense to our brethren in Minnesota, but they got themselves a great park. I realize it's in Wisconsin, but for those of us urbanites in Madison and especially Milwaukee - it's faster to get up...  more »

  • It was an amazingly beautiful park, I went there paving on spending just half an hour there but that quickly turned into an hour honestly it did not feel like long enough. It is easily accessible by vehicle. You have the options of walking paved roads and there are a few smaller hikes in the area. I recommend walking the steam/waterfall park and taking the path through the woods at the top of the waterfall. Disclaimer, the waterfall is small and man-made but it was very peaceful. There are also some gardens nearby and the park is very well managing and clean. I also saw a playground for kids making this a perfect place to visit add a family. Highly recommend.
  • This is always a great place to visit! The trails are great, the waterfall is beautiful and you can never go wrong with a state park. The hill to get down to the waterfall is pretty intense, coming up can really wear you out. The waterfall is wonderful, you can wander around and swim right under it if you're confident enough. The overlook is a lot of stairs, but the view is well worth the hike. Great place for all ages to get out and be outdoors!
