Newbold-White House is a historic house in Hertford, Perquimans County, North Carolina.

The brick house was built in 1730 by Abraham Sanders, a Quaker who purchased the property in 1726. His plantation on the Perquimans River produced corn, cotton, wheat, flax, indigo, tobacco, rice, and wood products. It is the oldest house in North Carolina that is open to the public.
The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

  • A fancier house for This period. I imagine Indians seeing this place was amazed. The henges, the wood, a second floor, and owned by a gentle Quaker family and passed down and even used for government....  more »
  • Showed up around 11am on Saturday, and there was no one there except for the lawn service guys. If you advertise as being open at a certain time, you need to have someone there! (Especially since you have to admit you are a little out of the way for most travelers!). Thankfully we were in the area anyway; if we had made a special 2 or 3 hour drive to visit the place we would have been really unhappy! I understand that if you rely on volunteers for staffing you have to expect this sometimes, but still......
