Historic Walking Area · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
The Walk of Legends, Green Bay, WI, USA begins in the shadow of Lambeau Field, just east of the stadium, with three of its 24 statues kicking off the history walk at the corner of Lombardi Avenue and South Oneida Street. From there, visitors can take the Walk, traveling east on Lombardi, with the 24-statue series of engraved-granite-and-steel tributes collectively chronicling and artistically displaying, in consecutive order, the legends and legendary history of football in Green Bay, the city that gave rise to the 13-time World Champion Green Bay Packers. Statues in Walk of Legends Series-East Lambeau also line streets just off Lombardi Avenue, among them: Bart Starr Drive, Reggie White Way, Tony Canadeo Run, Brett Favre Pass and Holmgren Way. Free to the public, the Walk of Legends, Green Bay, WI has become one of the most popular geo caches (see http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=625f4938-94ec-4461-926c-a9998bd1f389) and has been consistently rated independently by visitors as one of the most popular attractions in the Greater Green Bay-area. The Walk also serves a dual role in cultural education, its sponsor, The Oneida Tribe of Indians of WI (whose members were some of the first marquee players in Green Bay football history) providing tenets and vignettes outlining tribal history, practices and customs.
