One of the highest points at the Grand Canyon South Rim, Yavapai Point offers unobstructed views over the gorge, its deep twisting canyons, and multicolored butte formations. At an altitude of 2,152 m (7,062 ft) above sea level, it marks the start of an easy, well-shaded paved trail leading to the Grand Canyon Historic District. Don't forget your camera, since this vista point is also a popular spot for watching the sunset. The observation station features educational displays about the history and geology of the canyons.   • Probably one of my favorite areas of the park. Also adjacent to a geology museum. Just awe inspiring. Has an adjacent parking lot if you don't want to hike the rim trail.  more »
