Highline Trail, Glacier National Park

Offering dramatic views over the surrounding alpine landscape, Highline Trail is one of the most adventurous hikes in Glacier National Park. The scenic trail stretches for 12 km (7.6 mi), passing through rocky sections and areas of dense vegetation, but mostly following a narrow mountain ledge. The total elevation gain is about 2,000 ft (600 m). The most exhilarating part of the hike is where the rocky trail snakes against a vertical rock wall on one side, opening up to steep drop-offs on the opposite side. Keep an eye open for mountain goats and bighorn sheep along the way. The is a parking area for your convenience available. Keep in mind that this is a one-way hike.
