The museum provides visitors with a journey through the history of the Gig Harbor Peninsula. The museum contains: permanent exhibit galleries, a Special Exhibitions Gallery with 4-5 changing exhibits each year, a restored 1893 one-room schoolhouse, a 65-foot purse seine fishing vessel, and the first Thunderbird sailboat ever built. The museum has a resource room and gift shop. This is a small museum about the history of Gig Harbor. Self guided with plenty of explanations. Not very busy. Free parking. Free admission in 2019, but that could change in 2020. more »

This museum is a great place to see the rich history of Gig Harbor. It is interactive and has wonderful exhibits of all the different cultural influences. Getting to see the Shenandoah being restored and the replica of the Porpoise was a highlight of the tour. I will definitely be back to visit Gig Harbor to see more of the towns beauty. The museum is a must when you visit Gig Harbor.

It was a great to visit especially for a first time visitor to the City of Gig Harbor. Also a good idea to go inside the Visitor Information building downtown. Its right on the Harbor\Bay area. On the other side of Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
