Bridge · Tourist Spot
Sachs Covered Bridge is an important point on the Gettysburg battlefield. The covered, wooden bridge was built around 1854 and spans 30 m (100 ft) over Marsh Creek. During the battle that raged from July 1-3, 1863, both armies crossed the bridge. After the Union victory, the majority of Robert E. Lee's forces retreated over this bridge. The bridge is closed to vehicles, so you can explore the area on foot, immerse yourself in the atmosphere, and read the historical information at the site. If you feel brave, you can take a ghost-hunting tour of the bridge. • My family loves it here and it's a great place to spend a few hours. During the summer we like to soak our feet in the stream below the dam and the kids play in the water. Don't forget your bring the pups, they need cool off too!
  • I’ve only had the nerve to visit during the day before realizing the significance of this bridge and all the history. Very serene - some people were fishing others were down stream in the shade just enjoying the location. A must see since it’s so famous
