Tree Sculptures, Galveston

Old tree growth that once shaded the town's Victorian homes was destroyed by Hurricane Ike. Tree Sculptures are a grassroots effort to resurrect the trees with art. Sculpted tree trunks are scattered around the neighborhood between new saplings. Many of the sculptures have a special significance for the people living in the Galveston community, such as Marcy Hanson's tree sculpture of an angel cradling a rabbit, which commemorates her bunny sanctuary.
