Great history here! The Park Ranger gave a guided tour after showing a brief movie - both were entertaining and informative! The outdoor area consists of Fort Necessity and the Mount Washington Tavern, plus several walking trails. The indoor area has a lot of informative displays.

History, history, history is waiting for you here. From the Battle of the Great Meadow to the modern day route 40 highway. First learn about Washington's only surrender of his his career and how the French and Indians defeated him. From there move forward in history to the modern day national highway in the National Park Service's indoor museum. Head outdoors to view the great meadow and a replica of the fort. Finish your tour with a stop at an old time tavern on the National Road. The stop is all free but worth a donation to keep this place going and pristine.
