Christ of the Ozarks, Eureka Springs

Monument · Tourist Spot
Christ of the Ozarks stands as Arkansas' version of Rio de Janeiro's famous Christ the Redeemer statue. Built in 1967 by one of the sculptors of Mt. Rushmore, this statue stands 20 m (66 ft) tall and features a modernistic and minimalistic style with little facial expression. The statue is lit up at night. • Used to go here as a kid when I went to bible camp in the area. It's a big tall Jesus statue. The place commercialized Christianity. We just looked at the statue and walked the grounds. Didn't catch.....  more »
  • This statue was built in 1966 and is 67 feet high. You can only take in how big this is by stopping. We parked in the parking lot below and walked up the pedestrian walkway, but others drove the...  more »
  • If you're a Christian and/or you enjoy history this is worth the visit! I absolutely loved the Bible museum and they have an actual piece of the Berlin Wall which is very moving. The holy Land tour includes acute heading to call Noah's Ark. History Museum is also worth the visit. Christ of the Ozarks is obviously a great photo op. We visited on a hot day, so that impacted how much of touring we were up to, and I would love to visit the Passion Play as the amphitheatre looked fantastic for that dramatization, but not on a hot day. Next time Eureka!
  • The drive up to Christ of the Ozarks is incredible. Was slightly deceived when viewing the sculpture in person since I imagined it to be much taller. When you see it from the observation tower by the Razorback Gift Shop it seems as though it would be at least 100' tall. Still a very cool place to visit. Would recommend stopping at Magnetic Spring on the way up or on the way back.
