The Stanley Hotel is a 142-room Colonial Revival hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, United States. Approximately five miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, the Stanley offers panoramic views of Lake Estes, the Rockies and especially Long's Peak. It was built by Freelan Oscar Stanley of Stanley Steamer fame and opened on July 4, 1909, as a resort for upper class easterners and a health retreat for sufferers of pulmonary tuberculosis. The hotel and its surrounding structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Stanley Hotel served as the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in Stephen King's 1977 bestselling novel The Shining and as the filming location for the 1997 TV miniseries, also written by King. Today, the hotel features a restaurant, spa and bed-and-breakfast, and provides guided tours.

The Stanley hotel and staff were amazing! My niece and I had been planning to attend the Shining Ball when she turned 21 since she was 16. She is a huge fan! Well do to some booking errors in our end, we almost missed it! The Stanley took care of everything and we got to go! We had the best time! My niece dresses like Ursula and everyone loved her and wanted to take her picture. It was amazing! Thank you so much for making it work out for us!
Not only was I excited to be here for the night tour, but I was here on my honeymoon with my new wife. We had such a great time and our tour guide was absolutely amazing. Thank you Franky for being so knowledgeable and fun to listen to. If we could have done a video legally, we would have. You were awesome! Fantastic Job!!!
