Alpine Valley Resort is an all-season resort in the north central United States, located in the Town of Lafayette, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Southwest of Milwaukee, it has a golf course and alpine skiing; its longest run is 2,500 feet (0.47 mi; 0.76 km) in length.
Once owned by the Boschert family, part of their family farm was sold off to a developer who created the resort. Ownership has changed several times since the resort was constructed. It is currently owned by Wisconsin Resorts, Inc. Eventually, the resort grew to include an amphitheater, which became Alpine Valley Music Theatre.

It was at Alpine Valley 31 years ago in 1990 that guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan and four others were killed in a helicopter crash on the side of the ski hill. It followed a Sunday night performance with his band Double Trouble, a concert which included Eric Clapton and Robert Cray. The accident occurred in fog shortly after midnight on Monday, August 27; it was one of four helicopters bound for Chicago, approximately seventy miles (110 km) to the southeast.

  • Don’t get me wrong, this course is great. The RANGER is out to ruin your day. We got there and there was no one to man the bar and beverage cart was nowhere to be found. We stayed the night before for a show so opened the leftovers from the cooler in the parking lot. The RANGER drove up to our car and told us what we were doing was illegal, we had to buy beverages from the staff on-site. We would’ve been happy to if they were available. No worries, we headed out on the course. The RANGER was constantly watching us, at times unnerving and waiting to make comments “HEY 40 FEET FROM THE GREEN!” When the signs said 30 feet. An overall unpleasant experience due to the RANGER watching us constantly waiting to chime in if we nearly violated a course rule. We got through without any infractions but won’t be back if the RANGER is still there just waiting for you to violate a rule.
  • Beautiful place, great customer service the staff is friendly. I was kinda lucky they are actually closed for the season but was able to get a room any how and had free roam of the place.
