Clark's Lookout State Park is a Montana state park located one mile north of the community of Dillon. The 8-acre (3.2 ha) park encompasses the hill overlooking the Beaverhead River that William Clark climbed on August 13, 1805, during the Lewis and Clark Expedition. From the vantage point, Clark took various compass readings and sketched a map of the Beaverhead Valley. The park offers picnicking, interpretive signage, and a chance to make the climb that Clark made and stand where he stood.

  • My family in Montana lives directly next to this state park so of course we had to go check it out. It's not much more than a rocky cliff overlooking the town, but it's really neat for what it is and it has historical value when it comes to the Lewis and Clark voyage so that's cool to learn as well. There aren't really amenities or other things to do it's a one trick pony sort of place, but it's a great trick and for us as an added bonus we got to drive our ATV over there and that alone added a bit of fun to the whole experience. Either way a great park to visit if you're in the Dillon area like I was visiting family. Big fan of state parks and this one doesn't disappoint.
  • Nice place to stop for a short walk up a path to some beautiful views. Google maps took us to the wrong spot. But if you get on the old hwy 91 and look for the brown signs, it will get you there.
