  • Driving through this access to Death Valley, I thought my eyes deceived me when I saw what I thought to be Joshua trees.  more »

  • Lee Flat is an amazing location along the extreme western edge of Death Valley National Park. Its Joshua Tree Forest rivals anything you could see in Joshua Tree. It is pristine, beautiful desert set between the Nelson Range to the east and the Santa Rosa Hills to the west and southwest. This is backcountry however and while White Mountain Talc Road is generally in decent condition, caution should always be taken when venturing into these areas. Go prepared and have plenty of water. There are no services and you would be very very lucky to have a cell signal - if you get into trouble, you are on your own unless someone else happens to be in the area.
