Battery Point Lighthouse was first lit in 1856 by

The first official keeper Theophilis Magruder.

The Crescent City Lighthouse was automated in 1953, and a modern 375mm lens replaced the original fourth-order Fresnel lens. After automation, the Del Norte Historical Society leased the lighthouse. The lighthouse eventually became home to a museum and curators and is open for tours.

  • Visit them anytime. So jealous would love this house / job. Nice walk up. Sand and rocks. Not possible for those with moderate to severe mobility issues  more »
